Keeping runners hydrated at Basingstoke’s ‘must-do’ half marathon

If you’ve ever run a half marathon (or even just jogged around the block), you don’t need us to tell you it’s thirsty work. Regular rehydration is the key ingredient of any successful race, along with bags of energy, a few jelly beans in your pocket, and an unstoppable fever for fundraising.

On Sunday 1st October 2017, Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke will be continuing to illustrate its commitment to supporting local community and charity events by sponsoring a water station on the route of the Basingstoke Half Marathon for the second year in a row.

In partnership with organisers Destination Basingstoke, the Apollo Hotel team will help runners remain hydrated during their challenging 12-mile run which starts at Hackwood Road, near the War Memorial Park, before venturing off into North Hampshire’s beautiful, but hilly countryside; runners can look forward to car-free roads, beautiful scenery and tackling legendary hills near Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop.

Paul Fearon, General Manager at Apollo Hotel, comments:

“Apollo Hotel is delighted to be a long-standing sponsor of The Basingstoke Half Marathon. Not only is it the biggest event of the year in Basingstoke, but it’s also the ‘must-do’ race for runners in the south.  Furthermore, it raises lots of money for local charities. Good luck to all the runners taking part and don’t forget to visit our watering hole if you’re thirsty!”
